India vs. England 1st ODI Live Score: India will begin preparations for the ODI World Cup 2027 when they take on England in the first match of the three-match series at Edgbaston, Birmingham on Tuesday.

After a disappointing T20I campaign, the focus now shifts to the 50-over format, with the return of several senior players expected to boost the visitors.

The biggest boost for India is the return of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah, the team’s three most experienced players in ODIs.

Their return gives captain Shubman Gill an almost full squad as India begin building combinations for the 2027 World Cup in South Africa.

Rohit and Gill are expected to open the innings again. The pair have a combined average of 60.9 in ODIs and will look to give India solid starts.

Gill heads into the series in excellent form. He has scored 373 runs in five ODI innings this year at an average of 93.3 and a strike rate of 117, including one century and three fifties.

Virat Kohli is also coming back with major milestones within reach.

The first ODI at Edgbaston will mark his 300th ODI innings, while another good run could see him cross 15,000 ODI runs.

The former India captain has also been in exceptional form in the format, averaging 123 in the last seven ODI innings since the start of 2025.

KL Rahul, who scored 139 runs against Afghanistan in India’s previous ODI series, is expected to keep wickets while batting in the middle order. Shreyas Iyer is set to return to the preferred No.4 position.
