The newly appointed vice -president Rishabh Pant shared a light view of the upcoming series in England and admits that he feels a feeling of relief that does not have to face the impressive duo James Anderson and Stuart Broad. With both veterans, they now retired, joking that the pressure on Indian dough would be slightly less this summer.
This year in the England of England, the England is an important crossing for hosts because it will be the first in years without James Anderson or Stuart Broad in the XI. Broad resigned from the international cricket to Ashes 2023 and has since moved to the comment. Meanwhile, Anderson played his last test during the first West Indies 2024 match.
Speaking before the match A press conference before the Headingley Test June 18, Pant acknowledged the impact that Anderson and Broad had on the world cricket, and expressed it would be somewhat reassuring, that they would not meet them this time.
“It is definitely so good when they are not both (Anderson and Broad). Because they come from the last two tours, they were there for England for so many years and I only came for two tours. At the same time, they have enough ammunition as a bowling line -up in England,” Pant said at a press conference before the match.
“We don’t want to take anyone lightly, because our team is also young. They are still trying to develop themselves. But at the same time we have to play our cricket and respect the pitch and the opposition where it needs it,” he added.
The hinge, now one of the highest players on the test side of India, has taken further responsibility after retirement Rohit Sharma and Virt Kohli from the longest format. With the baton leadership, the younger generation will find itself as a key figure in both the field and beyond.
Despite Anderson and Broad’s absence, The English bowling attack remains dangerous. Like Chris Woakes, Brydon Cars, Josh Language and Shoaib Bashir form a promising unit that could concern India in domestic conditions. The hinge is expected to play a central role in the fight against England, especially if the highest order faces premature failures.
Given that the series is a decisive part of the World Cup cycle in the test, all eyes will be on how Pant processes both the bat and the leading cloak in what promises to be a challenging but exciting competition.
