India Batter Karun Nair ended eight years of waiting for half a century 1. Day fifth test against England in oval. Nair, who had a chance to play XI, despite his failures in the first three tests increased on this occasion when he led the Indian battle brand under overcast conditions on the green goal.
He scored a brilliant unbeatable 52* (98), attached to seven four and made a key partnership with Sai Sudhasan, Dhruv Jurel and Washington Sundar, with the kind permission of his courageous shifts, India completed Day 204/6.
England vs India 5. Test day 1 Update
Nair, who came into the fifth test, did not do much to guarantee a place in the XI game. In six shifts he scored only 131 runs on average 21.83 and the best score of 40. 33-year-old registered the scores of 30 and 41 in the first shifts in Edgbaston and Lord’s, but could not convert it to big shifts.
The leadership, however, showed its faith in it and added it to the XI instead of Sharduula Thakura. Nair repaid confidence with Gutsy for half a century, which would make his trust in his career a world of good at a major intersection.
It was only the second half a century of Nair’s career, which came 11 shifts after his famous triple hundred against England in Chennai 2016.
