Endosulfan victims and their families staged a protest sit-in outside the Kasaragod District Collector’s Chamber, alleging that they have received only empty promises and no real relief over the years.
The protesters demanded comprehensive treatment, rehabilitation and the inclusion of those left off the official list of endosulfan victims. They also demanded that treatment and livelihood schemes for the victims be included in the Kasaragod development package.
The protesters said that frequent delays in the disbursement of the relief fund for daily treatment and medicines, along with the poor functioning of the rehabilitation centers, aggravated their suffering. The mothers of the affected children warned that the protest would intensify if the government did not act quickly and provide treatment and financial assistance to the victims.
