
NEW DELHI: A long chapter in the history of Mumbai Indians has come to an end, with former India all-rounder Robin Singh officially announcing his retirement from the franchise after a partnership of 16 years.Robin confirmed on Friday that he has parted ways with both Mumbai Indians and their overseas sister franchise MI Emirates, bringing to a close one of the longest stints of support staff in franchise cricket.“I would like to share that I have officially parted ways with Mumbai Indians. Although I am not part of their IPL staff from 2022 onwards, I am also with their Emirates league team from this year,” Robin wrote in a social media post.He also thanked the franchise and the fans for their support over the years.“Thank you to the entire MI family and fans for supporting me on this remarkable journey since 2010. I wish the franchise the best of luck in the years to come.”Robin joined Mumbai Indians in 2010 and became a key figure behind the scenes in the franchise’s most successful era. He has been part of the setup during all five IPL winning campaigns and also contributed to the team’s two Champions League 2020 triumphs. A key role beyond the IPLAlthough his direct role with MI’s IPL unit ended in 2022, Robin remained involved with the wider Mumbai Indians network. He served as the general manager of MI Emirates during the inaugural International League T20 season in 2023 and was later promoted as the franchise manager in 2024.His departure marks the end of a significant coaching era for the franchise, where he worked alongside several title-winning teams.Prior to his coaching career, Robin represented India in 136 ODIs, scoring 2,336 runs and taking 69 wickets. He later became one of the most sought after coaches in T20 leagues around the world.
