Employee arrested for theft at Panjagutta jewelery showroom, 1 kg gold recovered

The Panjagutta police arrested an employee in connection with a theft reported at a jewelery showroom in the area and recovered one kilogram of stolen gold within 24 hours of the complaint.

The accused has been identified as Karampudi Gopalakrishna, 25, a resident of Tadepalli in Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh. A case was registered on February 15 on the complaint of one Sebastian regarding theft of gold biscuits from Joyalukkas showroom in Panjagutta.

According to the police, special teams were formed immediately after receiving the complaint. Investigators analyzed CCTV footage, technical evidence and intelligence inputs, after which the accused was identified and arrested within a day.

Police said the entire stolen property was recovered from the possession of the accused. The seizure included 10 gold biscuits weighing 100 grams, totaling one kilogram and worth about ₹1.65 million, a mobile phone and a motorcycle.

Police advised jewelery store owners to strengthen security measures, including installing adequate CCTV coverage, using motion sensor cameras, properly vetting security staff, conducting thorough checks on visitors and staff, and maintaining physical security measures such as locks and shutters.
