Emphasized the role of pharmacists in strengthening health care systems

GITAM School of Pharmacy celebrated World Pharmacists Day (September 25) and National Pharmacy Week 2026 in Visakhapatnam on Thursday as part of the AMR Awareness Mission with a focus on ‘Swasth Bharat: Combating Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR)’.

Director L. Srinivas emphasized the role of pharmacists in strengthening healthcare systems and promoting responsible use of antimicrobials. G. Prasad, Head, Department of Nephrology, Andhra Medical College, spoke on Chronic Kidney Disease and Uddanam Nephropathy, emphasizing on early diagnosis and preventive healthcare.

M. Krishnaji Rao, Chief Research and Development Officer, Divi’s Laboratories Limited, highlighted AI-assisted drug discovery, computational chemistry, digital labs and personalized medicine. Academic competitions were also held.
