A team of Chandigarh Police on Tuesday (April 22, 2026) reached the office of Madhu Kishwar, a well-known writer in Delhi, after she was booked for allegedly spreading fake and misleading content on social media.
Following a complaint by a city-based resident in April, the Chandigarh police registered a First Information Report (FIR) against Ms Kishwar under sections including 196 (criminalises acts which promote enmity, hatred or ill will between groups based on religion, race, language), 336 (1) (forgery) and 356 (Bejsidehitaya Sanjahita criminal sections) 66 C, D and 67 of the Information Technology Act.
