Eluru Dist. Ganesh utsav committees have been instructed to step up arrangements

As Eluru district gears up to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi with enthusiasm, the district police on Sunday instructed the Ganesh utsav committees to take measures for the peaceful conduct of the festival.

Superintendent of Police K. Pratap Shiva Kishore directed the organizers to monitor the daily programs at the pandals and take precautionary measures to avoid any untoward incident. “The utsav committee members have been asked to follow the instructions of the officers and cooperate with the police for the smooth conduct of the Ganesha utsavams as well as the nimajjanam,” the SP said.

The Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of the four zones in the district visited the villages in the respective zone under their jurisdiction and urged the people and organizers to take precautionary measures. The four zones are Eluru, Jangareddygudem, Nuzvid and Polavaram.

Eluru DSP D. Sravan Kumar held a meeting with the residents of Agadala Lanka village and appealed to the organizers to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi traditionally and not cause any inconvenience to the public.

At an awareness program held at Kukunur mandal on Sunday, Polavaram DSP K. Jaya Krishna appealed to the mandapam organizers not to collect donations by force and involve children in collecting money from the public.

Meanwhile, Jangareddygudem DSP BH Venkateswarlu suggested people not to create traffic jams. “Devotes are requested not to use sound boxes at the mandapam during night hours and take measures to avoid traffic jams,” he said.

The SP has asked the pandal organizers to ensure CCTV, take measures in providing electrification and other arrangements at the mandapams. “Utsavam committee organizers are requested to observe precautions during the nimajjanam and alert the police if necessary,” said Mr. Kishore.
