Few people want beef with their neighbors to become public. This includes Elon Musk.
In March, Mr. Musk’s team lobbied for officials in the luxury city of West Lake Hills in Texas to calm the details of one of his settlements and security operations, according to the E -mails to the city employees acquired by the New York Times through requests for public records.
In these e -mails, the employees of the technology billionaire asked West Lake Hills officials to make a private public meeting in April – where neighbors could talk about their house $ 6 million. They showed up to Mr. Musk’s work with Trump’s administration as a reason why his property records and communication with the city were exempt from state and federal laws on public records, showed e -maly.
The owner of the house should be exempt because he is a “federal public official”, one of Mr. Musk’s employees wrote in -mail sent to the city of March 3 and added: “We can provide federal permits if necessary.”
Mr. Musk, 53, tried to maintain disagreement with his neighbors over the construction of 16-Naha, a chain fence and a metal gate with a camera at the headquarters under the wrap. He made changes in the property without obtaining the correct permits, violated six city regulations and tried to solve this problem retroactively.
His privacy pressure was unsuccessful. West Lake Hills’s attorney decided against a closed meeting, showing e -mail. Last month, at the Assembly Commission for Territorial and Planning, Mr. Musk lost his challenge to keep the fence and gate on his property. This matter goes beside the meeting of the city council, which was scheduled for 14 May, but was overparted to 11 June after “the applicant asked for postponing,” Trey Fletcher said on Tuesday.
Mr. Fletcher refused to comment on urban documents. Mr. Musk and his team did not respond to requests for comment.
The six -room house with dimensions of 6,900 square feet in West Lake Hills is one of the three settlements that Mr. Musk has bought in the last few years for his children and their mothers. The castle, on a residential dead end of four houses, is a place where Mr. Musk remains when he is in Austin, and has become the center of his growing security operations. He bought the property in 2022 through a limited liability company.
After 16 tracks and a separate gate were built, the neighbors complained about structures and operation on leaf streets. This led West Lake Hills officials to investigate.
In March, Mr. Musk’s employees became concerned that any documentation they send to the city will become the public, show e -maly. Tisha Ritta, an official official permit that works for a limited liability company, and the city asked the city to plan the hearing for real estate problems.
Inna Kaplun, which was identified as a lawyer working for the “property owner”, also sent the city to the city and claims that the owner should be exempt from public hearing for numerous security staff on property, including federal marshal. A lawyer who quoted the status in Texas said that government entities need not be open meetings to manifest “security staff or equipment”.
Mr. Musk’s employees and the city officials organized at least one meeting in March to discuss the property, show e -mail. In mid-March, the city representative for West Lake Hills decided against Mr. Musk’s request on private hearing and laughing at the Texas open meetings.
At a meeting of the Public Territorial and Planning Commission and planning last month, the city employees recommended Mr. Muska to allow the fence and the gate that he built without permission, albeit with small changes. Some of the six members of the commission questioned the city employees on the proposal, according to the meeting.
In the end, the Commission voted to recommend that the city council reject Mr. Musk exceptions for his projects.
