During a recent interview, technical billionaire Elon Musk spoke about Trump’s administration and hit a careful balance between the agreement and distance.
“And you know, it’s not like I agree with everything the administration does,” Musk said, talking to CBS.
“I agree with most of what the administration is doing. But we have differences in opinions … I don’t want, you know, talk against administration, but I don’t want to take responsibility for everything this administration does.”
On the Tax Act: “Great or beautiful – not both”
Musk criticized the latest bill on expenditure of the administration, which he believes is undermined by the goals of the Duge-Ministerial Government Efficiency, the initiative associated with reducing the costs of the government.
“I was disappointed when I saw a massive expenses account, frankly, which increases the budget deficit, it does not reduce it,” Musk said.
“It will undermine the job the DOGE team does.”
“I think the account may be big or can be beautiful,” he added with a laugh. “But I don’t know if it could be both. My personal opinion.”
About tarifts and trade wars: “A little bit of things”
Asked if his multi-industrial companies were affected by tariffs and the tension of global trade, Musk recognized a slight impact.
“You know, tariffs always affect things,” he said, and without further processing.
About immigration policy: “Let’s stick to spacecraft”
When he asked about the proposed restrictions for visas of foreign students – the topic especially important for Musk, the entrepreneur of immigrants – turned away from political discussion.
“Yeah. I think I think we want to stick, you know, the subject of the day, which, like spacecraft, unlike, you know, you know, presidential policy,” Musk said.
When he further pressed, he simply replied, “No, well – no.”
DOGE Firestorm: “He became flogging”
Musk defended Doge in the middle of a public will for cuts in government services and claimed that the agency had become a scapegoat.
“It’s a bit unfair because Doga has become a boy’s boy for everything,” Musk said.
“If there was a cut, a real or introduced, everyone would blame Doga.

Ideology over understanding
The solution of critics that Doge moved too quickly without understanding the agencies that were determined, Musk framed it as an ideology.
“I am a smaller government, not a larger government,” he said.
“So if someone is a supporter of more government programs … they will basically be against Doge.”
“My honest opinion on the government is that just like the government is just as a DMV that has become big. So when you say,” Let’s let the government do something, “you should think,” Do you want DMV to do it? “
