“President Trump has a great relationship with Prime Minister Modi and this was a productive conversation,” White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said in a statement to PTI when asked to comment on the New York Times report.
“Elon Musk participated in a phone call with President Trump and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday, an unusual appearance by a private citizen on a call between two heads of state during a wartime crisis,” the report quoted an unnamed US official as saying.
Musk went back on the deal with Trump
A New York Times report said Mr Musk’s inclusion, confirmed by two US officials, suggested the world’s richest man had a better relationship with the president.
Mr Trump and Mr Musk had a falling out last year after the billionaire left the government, where he was tasked with reducing the workforce.
The report said it was unclear why Mr Musk was on the call or whether he was speaking.
It was the first conversation between the two leaders since the conflict in West Asia began on February 28.
During the conversation, Prime Minister Modi emphasized the importance of ensuring that the Strait of Hormuz remains open, secure and accessible, noting that it is vital to global peace, stability and economic prosperity.
