Elon Musk on Tuesday (November 4th) cited irregularities in New York’s election voting, calling it a “fraud” and challenging the city’s voting process.
“The New York City Election Form is a Fraud!” Writing on X, Musk added:
Other mayoral candidates appear twice
Cuomo’s name is last on the bottom right.”
His post quickly went viral, drawing criticism and clarification from users who accused him of spreading misinformation about city election laws and the voting format.
The founder of the conservative group answers
The founder of the conservative Republican community and media group “Loud Majority” responded by explaining that listing a candidate’s name multiple times on the ballot was normal in New York’s election system.
“Elon… Being on the ballot twice is normal, it’s with the party’s approval,” the user wrote.
“If the Conservatives had supported Sliwa like they normally do when they support a Republican, he would have been there three times. That’s normal.”
Users point to party recommendations
Other a user posting under the name “Trump Tracker” elaborated that some candidates appear more than once because they are supported by more than one party.
“Zohran will appear twice because he won the primaries for two parties,” the user explained. “Cuomo is going to show up at the bottom one day because he didn’t win any primaries. He actually lost.”
Fact-checking by the founder of Tangle News
Isaac Saul, founder of @tanglenews, issued one of the most detailed rebuttalsand called Musk’s claims “nonsense.”
“1. NYC has no voter ID laws.
2. In New York, multiple parties can support the same candidate, so some may appear more than once. Republican Sliwa is also listed twice!
3. Eric Adams is on the ballot because he dropped out too late.
4. Cuomo lost the primary and ran as an independent, and the primary candidates are on the ballot.”
Saul added: “Maybe you don’t like the rules. Fine. But posting this stuff on X with zero context leads people to think it’s a scam or cheating. These are just rules that apply equally to candidates.”

Other users explain the location of the ballots
Another user X expressed confusion about the layout of the ballotwith the comment: “OMG Cuomo isn’t even listed in the top row! Is he under the ‘I’? Where the hell is the ‘H’?”
Others stepped in to clarify.
“- Mamdani and Sliwa are candidates of more than one party, which is why their names appear multiple times. – Cuomo lost the primary and entered the general election late, it’s fair and makes sense that his name appears last,” one user wrote.
Challenges to prevent misinformation
Several users urged Musk to avoid spreading misleading claims about election practices.
“I love you bro, but please don’t spread misinformation about things you don’t know about. one user commented. “There’s a reason why names come up twice… it’s not a hoax. A lot of times independents come up last too – that’s just how the two party system works in this country.”
The user conceded Musk’s point about voter ID laws, saying, “I have no defense for the ID part…so you can go ahead and plug it in.”
