The elephant in O’Vvalley in Gudalur, accused of a number of negative interactions with the human elephant in the region dating for 10 years, was calmed down on Tuesday afternoon and captured the forest department Tamil Nadu.
According to officials, the animal was on Tuesday afternoon in Ellamalai in O’Vvalley and using the elephants Kumki, joined the truck. The elephant will be transferred to a specially designed kraal (hiding place) in the main area of Mudumalai Tiger Reserve (MTR), where it is to be held for some time before release, the officials added.

Over the past decades, the locals accused the elephant, Tusker known as “Radhakrishnan” for the locals. However, officials and nature of the forest department and nature question this issue and report the number of human deaths caused by an elephant between three and six persons in a highly complex matrix of human settlements and ivory, which forms O’Vallley in the Gudalur Forest division.
The area, inhabited mainly by Sri Lankan Repatriates relocated to the government to work on tea goods in Nilgiris, has long been a source of dispute between government and local residents of land status.

Officials confirmed that it was hoped that by maintaining an elephant limited inside Kraal for a period of time, it could help discourage themselves from draining near human settlements and attacking people. More than 100 forest employees, four kumkis and forest veterinarians participated in the operation.
