A 45-year-old electrician died in a road accident on the ORR near Taramatipet in the early hours of Thursday after the car he was traveling in rammed into a vehicle.
The deceased was identified as Chinnam Venkatesham of Edullagudem village in Valigonda mandal of Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district. The complaint was filed by his wife Chinnam Padma (38), a farmer from the same village.
According to an Abdullapurmet police officer, Venkatesham along with four others in a car with registration number TS-30-L-7273 were going from their village to Hyderabad for work on Wednesday evening. “The group included Guniganti Naresh, Lingaswamy, Kontham Srina and Guduru Sampath Reddy who was driving the vehicle,” he said.
After completing their work, the group was returning home via ORR from Moinabad. At around 2.15 am while passing through the Taramatipet bypass, the driver allegedly tried to overtake an unknown vehicle and hit it from behind. Police said the car was being driven rashly and carelessly.
Venkatesham, who was sitting in the back, sustained severe head injuries and died on the spot due to profuse bleeding. The remaining passengers sustained minor injuries and were taken to a private hospital in Hayath Nagar.
A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
