The state government signed a memorandum of understanding (MY) with Hess AG, Hess India and SSB AG to launch the Pilot Electric Rapid transit project between Hubballi and Dharwad.
State government officials and companies signed documents in Bengalur on Saturday. Officers said it was a fully electrical system and will work on elevated roads in the city and on the ground in other places. In this, 250 people can travel at once. The feasibility study has been conducted during the last year. Representatives of companies reported that this transport system in the metro style is successfully implemented in many European countries.
Minister of Labor Santosh Lad said he visited Switzerland to study the successful pilot implementation of the project. He explained problems such as the feasibility and possible positive results of the project. The aim of this initiative is to provide environmental and effective urban transport for Hubball-Dharwad.
Main Minister Siddaramaiah said that if this project is successful in Hubball and Dharwad, it can be expanded to other cities in the second level of the state. He ordered officials to prepare a detailed report on the project (DPR) on the project.
