Karnataka State Election Commissioner GS LaRushi said on Saturday that elections that are the basis of strengthening democracy play a key role in shaping the future of the country.
He issued a special lecture on “Indian democracy and the role of elections in shaping his future” at Faran Auditorium at Karnataka Arts College, but said that it is regretted that people in urban areas show less interest in participating in the election process compared to rural voters.
Mr. Langressi stressed that he emphasized the need for active participation in the election process and stressed that no one should fall to temptation or incentives. “Citizens have to participate in an ethically and responsibly election process. And young people have a more responsible role,” he said.
He recommended students to become slaves of technology. “Instead, study and develop expertise in languages,” he said.
By publishing the annual university magazine, registrar of Karnataka A. Chennappa University, he emphasized the need for students to understand the constitution, democracy and the electoral process. He also stressed that students need to be informed about current matters.
Principal DB Karadoni chaired the program, while Prof. Suresh Hullannavar made introductory notes. On this occasion, the Ministry of Political science revealed a album with the preambul of the Constitution.
