The Indian Election Commission (ECI) announced on Sunday (May 4, 2025) that it is developing new, user -friendly digital interfaces for voters and other parties, such as election officials, political parties and civic society.
The new one -time platform, Ecinet, will integrate and reorient more than 40 existing EC mobile and web applications. It will include existing applications such as voters, turnout, Cvigil, SUVidha 2.0, ESMS, Saksham and App Kyc, which together threw more than 5.5 tightening crore.
The new EC initiative comes in the middle of the accusation of opposition parties regarding the manipulations of voters, duplicates of electoral photographic identification cards (EPICS), as well as abnormalities in updating data on electoral participation.
Ecinet will have an aesthetic user interface (UI) and a simplified user experience (UX) by providing a unique platform for all selected activities. This step is also designed to alleviate the burden of users who currently have to download and browse multiple applications and remember different login data, the body of the vote said in its statement.
It has already achieved advanced phases of development and strict experiments are underway to ensure smooth function, easy use and robust measures for cyber safety. After a sophisticated consultation exercise, including 36 main election officers (CEOs) of all countries and trade unions, 767 district election officials (DeOS) and 4,123 electoral registration officials (EROS) of their states and UT and 76 publications when 76 publications were reviewed.
The new digital interface allows users to access relevant electoral data on their desktops and smartphones. In order to ensure that the data is as accurate as possible, Ecinet data will only be entered by EC authorized officials. In the case of any conflict, however, primary data prevail, as is properly filled in statutory forms.
The platform was proposed by the Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar during the recent CEO conference, EC sources said.
The new initiative is expected to benefit nearly 100 Crore voters and entire election machines, including more than 10.5 stalls, about 15 agents at the level of Lakh by political parties, nearly 45 Lakh election officials, 15,597 auxiliary EROS, 4,123 EROS and 767 Deos throughout the country.
