A Bengali nationalist organization on Wednesday (Apr 15, 2026) claimed that the Election Commission (EC) had denied it permission to take out a Bengali New Year parade, calling it a “serious attack” on the community’s pride and culture.
However, ‘Bangla Pokkho’ announced that a rally would be held on the evening of April 15 to celebrate ‘Nabobarsho’ (New Year) in the southern parts of the city, defying the EC’s denial.
