
Indian shooter Elavenil Valarivan won a gold medal in a female 10m air rifle in the 16th Asian Championship in Shymkent in Kazakhstan on Friday, August 22 with a characteristic composed performance in the final.
26 -year -old from Tamil Nadu, which won several gold medals at the World Cups, fired a score of 253.6 to end up at the top of the final and win her second gold in the continental showpie, the first coming back in 2019 when she chased her skills led by Gagan Narang.
Silver went to the Chinese Xinlu PENG with a score of 253, while the Korean Eunji Kwon (231.2) took home bronze.
Bronze in Skeet Mixed Team
In the Skeet Mixed, Abhay Singh Sekhon (65) and Ganemat Sekon (73), they shot 138 in qualifying to create a second bronze medal against Kuwait Abdullah Alashidi, a 62 -year -old legend of sports and a double Olympic bronze medalist.

Valarivan was qualified for the finals for the final with a score of 630.7. Ghosh originally finished 10th with a score of 630.3, but made the finals because two more higher placement of the Indians-Arya Bors (633.2) and Sonam Maskar (630.5)-were reached aside because they only competed for evaluation points.
Meanwhile, Valarivan and Mehuli in combination with Ananya Naida (630.0) won the bronze team in a women’s 10m air rifle with a total score of 1891. China won gold while Korea took silver.
Valarivan’s medal was only the second senior individual gold for India in the continental showpiece, where the country buried the graphs thanks to the strong performance of its junior shooters.
Anantjeet Singh Narka requested the first Indian senior gold in a male skeet event. The double Olympic medalist Manu Bhaker won a bronze medal in the 10m Women’s 10m Air Pistols.
