Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde was admitted to a private hospital in Thane on Friday (July 3, 2026) night after he complained of fever and weakness. The hospital management said that his health parameters are stabilized.
Mr. Shinde was suffering from fever during the proceedings of the Legislative Assembly but continued with his scheduled engagements. However, his condition required medical intervention during the Thane program after which all his remaining events were cancelled.
Doctors attributed the illness to a combination of viral fever and physical exhaustion from sustained activity. The Deputy Chief Minister was involved in a range of political and administrative duties, including legislative assembly meetings and functions related to party functions.
Hospital management confirmed that Mr Shinde was admitted at approximately 8pm on Friday (July 3, 2026). Medical examinations take place under the supervision of specialists.
Developments in healthcare have had an impact on political agendas. The formal induction of Shubhangi Patil, a leader from the Thackeray faction of the Shiv Sena, into the Shinde-led party was scheduled at the Gangubai Shinde Auditorium in Thane. The event was adjourned and subsequently carried out at 2am on Saturday (July 4, 2026), with MP Dr. Shrikant Shinde.
State Health Minister Prakash Abitkar gave an update from Pandharpur. He said that Mr. Shinde’s doctors had advised rest and there was no cause for concern.
