The Whitefield Divisional Police has identified two suspected assailants in the murder of 42-year-old advocate B. Manjunath in Whitefield and has deployed eight special teams in several towns to trace and nab them.
The two suspects, both natives of Bihar, were allegedly working as delivery drivers in Bengaluru for the past two years, according to Whitefield Deputy Commissioner of Police Saidulu Adavath.
Investigators tracked their movements after the Oct. 18 murder. One suspect is believed to have traveled to Chennai by train, while the other is said to have fled to Hyderabad on his motorcycle. Police teams have been deployed in Delhi, Kolkata, Bihar, Chennai and Hyderabad to trace them. Technical assistance to the investigation is provided by the Central Crime Branch (CCB).
“Eight teams have been deployed in different cities across the country. They are working effectively to trace the accused. Serious efforts are being made and there has been no negligence in the investigation. Senior officers are monitoring the case. More details will be shared once the accused are traced,” said DCP Adavath.
Manjunath, an advocate and proprietor, was shot dead at his residence in Pattandur Agrahara, Whitefield, on the night of October 18. He was allegedly killed by his tenants over unpaid rent.
After the murder, the police formed special teams to trace the assailants, who are suspected to have fled Bengaluru soon after the crime.
While investigators are probing the motive for the murder, the alleged roles of others, if any, have yet to be determined. No arrests have been reported so far and police are still trying to find the suspects and determine the circumstances leading to the killing.
