
Eight children from an Anganwadi center in Mittakandala village of Pamulapadu district were hospitalized on Wednesday evening due to suspected food poisoning at the centre. The children were released from the hospital after their condition stabilized on Thursday.
According to District Women and Child Protection Officer P. Leelavathi Devi, the investigation into the incident was conducted on the instructions of Minister for Women and Child Protection G. Sandhya Rani. Children from Anganwadi Center 3 complained of vomiting and diarrhea and were taken to hospital.
As there were reports of children falling ill after eating food at the Anganwadi centre, District Collector Rajakumari Ganiya said food samples were collected and sent for analysis. Results are awaited, she said, adding that the children have been released.
