Eight persons were arrested on Monday, in connection with the murder of a 47 -year -old man, eight persons over land dispute at the limits of the Vangal Police Station in the district on Sunday evening.
The name of the deceased was given as manivasagam. Police sources said he had completed Manivasagam to buy land from Rani. The sources said that Venkatesan of Vangal and several others wanted to buy the land at a higher price from Mrs. Rani and caused her problems.
Manivasagam was accompanied by his brother Yogeswaren and Anand on Sunday evening to Mrs. Rani, where Venkatesan and his accomplice allegedly attacked Manivasagam, his brother, Mrs. Rani and two others with swords and other weapons.
Manivasagam died in Karur Government Medical College Hospital. The Vangalian police, who acted on a complaint from the wife of Manivasagam’s wife Nandini, registered a case of murder, which arrested eight people, including Venkatesan.
