
Eid-ul-Fitr 2026: Ramadan 2026 has ended in India, Friday the 30th is the last day of fasting for those who have been observing. The month-long fast ends with the sighting of the Shawwal crescent on the last day, Friday.
Ramadan is the ninth Islamic month and Shawwal is the tenth. The first day of Shawwal, Saturday, March 21, is Eid-ul-Fitr.

Eid-ul-Fitr is an occasion to break the fast. ‘Fitr’ is an Arabic word meaning ‘breaking’. The festival was celebrated in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and other Gulf countries, as well as Kerala and Tamil Nadu in India, on Friday 20 March.
While Eid marks the end of Ramadan, it is also the occasion of special prayers called ‘Eid Namaz’ – communal prayers held shortly after sunrise.

The timing of Eid Namaz varies slightly depending on the local sunrise. The mosque committees in various cities announce the timings accordingly. Eid Namaz is essentially an expression of gratitude. After a month of fasting, Muslims thank God for strength and guidance.
Timing of Eid Namaz
Different cities have different times for Eid Namaz. In fact, different mosques in the same city have different times. In Delhi, for example, Eid Namaz is at Jama Masjid at 6:45 AM. In other mosques, the timing is different.
In places like Srinagar, where sunrise is later than Delhi, Eid namaz will be offered at Jama Masjid Srinagar at 10:00 AM, while at Hazratbal Shrine it will be at 10:30 AM.
Special notice to avoid overcrowding
The local management of the mosques issued a special recommendation for the worshipers to follow the basic instructions for the smooth progress of the prayer. In some mosques, the prayer is held twice an hour apart to avoid overcrowding.
Eid Namaz v timings in Bengaluru
In Bengaluru, worshipers are expected to throng mosques and Eidgahs across the city for Eid prayers on Saturday morning. The first Eid namaz is scheduled to begin around 6:30 a.m., shortly after sunrise. Special prayers will continue at various locations throughout the morning, with some congregations scheduled as late as 11:00 a.m.
Eid Namaz will be held at 6:30 in many mosques such as Haji Sir Ismael Sait Masjid in Fraser Town and Masjid Noor in KG Halli. At Masjid-e-Muzammil in Govindpur, there will be an Eid prayer at 6:35 am. At Jamia Muhammadia Mansoora Ground, Thanisandra, it will be at 7:00 AM.
Eid Namaz in Srinagar
The Jama Masjid, Srinagar management has announced that Eid-ul-Fitr congregational prayers will be held at the historic mosque at 10 am.

At Hazratbal shrine, namaz will be held at 10:30 am while at Dastgeer Sahab shrine it will be held at 9:30 am.
Eid Namaz is one of the most important parts of the celebration which is held early in the morning after the Fajr prayer. While the timing may vary slightly depending on the mosque and local sunrise, most prayers across India fall within a standard window.
Security measures in Lucknow
Extensive police arrangements have been made in Lucknow ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr to ensure that various programs and events associated with the festival are conducted in a safe, orderly and dignified manner, Lucknow police said on Friday.
Members of the Sunni community pray at the Eidgah in Aishbagh, where namaz is offered at 10:00 am. Similarly, members of the Shia community pray at Asifi Masjid (Bara Imambara) and at Jama Masjid in Thakurganj.
