The Mahashtra government has moved a public holiday due to EID-E-Milad in Mumbai and the suburban district until 8 September. The holidays, which were originally declared Friday 5th September 2025, will now be followed on Monday, September 8, 2025.
The notification was made through an official announcement issued by the Ministry of the General Administration on Wednesday.
Why change?
The Mahashtra government moved the holiday in Mumbai and its suburbs after the Muslim community decided to organize the process of Eid-E-Milad 8 September. A change was made to maintain harmony to Anant Chaturdashi, which decreases on 6 September, when Ganpati idols will be immersed.
In the circulation of the General Administration Department (GAD), it said that while the Feast of 5th September will remain unchanged for other districts in the state, it was moved to 8 September in the Bombai city and the suburbs.
EID-E-MILAD 2025 date
According to the list of holidays with gazette, Eid-E-Milad will be observed 5 September this year. Therefore, Friday 5th September will be a holiday for government schools and offices throughout India, with the exception of the Bombai city and its suburbs.
Eid-un-nabi celebration will begin worldwide on the evening of 4 September and ends in the evening of 5 September.
