EESL commends Andhra Pradesh for adopting clean cooking solutions

Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) appreciated the Andhra Pradesh government’s adoption of clean cooking solutions in more than 55,000 anganwadi centers on a saturation basis.

As a key implementing partner, EESL has played a key role in translating the national clean cooking agenda into action on the ground.

The partnership between the Department of Women Development and Child Welfare and EESL empowered anganwadi centers with clean cooking technologies even before the ongoing conflict in West Asia began affecting fuel supply chains in many countries, Akhilesh Kumar Dixit, CEO of EESL, said in a press release.

He noted that induction-based cooking delivers almost 35% cost savings and is about 30% more energy efficient than conventional LPG-based cooking. In addition, it significantly reduces dependence on LPG cylinders, reduces indoor air pollution and, on a macro level, prevents CO₂ emissions of almost 28,327 tons per year.

Under phase I, induction cooktops and cookware sets were distributed to 11,400 anganwadi centers and under phase II around 20,000 anganwadi centers have already received the facility and the entire program involving all 55,746 centers was expected to be completed by the end of this month.
