Main Minister Siddaramaiah emphasized the importance of education to the eradication of caste, who, as he said, resulted in social stagnation.
On Friday he spoke in Allapatna, Srirangapatna Taluk from the district of Mandya. The main minister participated in the initiation of the temple towers and the installation of idols in the Sri Annadaneshwaraswama temple, his family deity.
Mr. Siddaramaiah said that the caste system must be removed in accordance with the constitution and ideals of Basaveshware. Caste does not provide social mobility and led to stagnation and education was a necessity for social mobility concerning economic growth and opportunities, he added.
Siddaramaiah said that the capacity of a person for a specific task was based on a caste, stating that it was currently merit of merit, and that was a step towards the recovery of the caste.
In this context, Mr. Siddaramaiah remembered that some of the people had made fun of him and questioned his skills when he decided to introduce the first budget.
“They mocked me and said that a person who could not count 100 sheep could not be expected to introduce the budget. But now I have submitted it 16 times,” said Mr. Siddaramaiaha, emphasizing the importance of opportunities. Only if opportunities are formed, he added.
The main minister also made several lines of a folk song that celebrated the fame of Annandanesehwama and remembered participation in such folk performances, including Veeracith, during his childhood. “The folk dance tradition of Veeracithu continues to worship Siddarameshware and I also participated as a child,” he said.
