Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Thursday (June 18, 2026) chaired a high-level review meeting of senior officials and functionaries of the Department of Education, State Governments, National Testing Agency (NTA) and colleges to assess the readiness of the NEET UG examination to be held on June 21.
Secretary, Ministry of School Education and Literacy, Sanjay Kumar; Higher Education Secretary Vineet Joshi and NTA Director General Shri Abhishek Singh also attended the meeting.
In the meeting, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan emphasized the importance of maintaining the highest standards of integrity, transparency and efficiency in the examination process and directed all concerned authorities to remain alert and fully prepared. He urged the officials concerned to ensure that necessary measures are taken for the free and fair conduct of the re-examination.
Emphasizing the importance of coordination at all levels, the minister informed that the officers appointed by the ministry will cover all states to coordinate activities related to the review process and will report to the Command Center led by DG NTA. The minister asked the designated nodal officers of the state governments to ensure that students are provided with all the necessary facilities to enable them appear for the resit examination in a stress-free environment.
Secretary, Ministry of School Education and Literacy, Sanjay Kumar, said that students must be completely comfortable to appear for the exam by providing them with all the necessary facilities, including provision of a place to sit before the exam and drinking water. He asked the nodal officials of the state governments to ensure that adequate steps are taken in this regard.
Higher Education Secretary Vineet Joshi noted that the time between now and the re-examination date is crucial and stressed the need for proactive coordination, timely dissemination of guidelines and strict adherence to all prescribed protocols.
Director General, NTA, Abhishek Singh said that NTA is working with all concerned stakeholders, including district level coordination committees headed by DMs, state police departments and intelligence agencies to ensure smooth conduct of the re-examination.
Review preparedness, coordination mechanisms, security protocols, logistical arrangements, grievance redressal mechanisms and compliance with review guidelines were discussed in detail. States/UTs have been advised to maintain close coordination with all stakeholders to ensure smooth, transparent and hassle-free conduct of the review.
The meeting, which took place in hybrid mode, was attended by 222 participants. The meeting was attended by senior officials from various States/Union Territories, Nodal Officers of Centrally Funded Institutes, Vice Chancellors and Principals of Universities across the country. They assured their full cooperation and said that they are committed to take all necessary measures for the smooth conduct of the examination and ensure a smooth and hassle-free examination for the candidates.
