“Education is a solution to all challenges facing women,” said former member of the Public Service Commission in Karnataka Nagabai Bull during her inaugurational addresses at the fifth state of the Agricultural Convention in Kalaburagagi.
The event organized by the Karnataka Panta Krishi Kojiutara Sangha and the female agricultural workers of the state subcommittee took place in the Functional Hall of KEB.
Mrs. Bulla stressed that poverty, illiteracy, superstition and even blind religious belief continues to prevent women’s progress. “Education is the only medicine,” she said.
It urged mothers not to let the suffering disrupt their children’s education, added: “Even if you cannot build a house or your own land, give their children proper education will seize them to build their own future.”
She also warned against relying on others to change: “No one else can come and transform our lives. We must use government schemes wisely and evoke our own change.”
When she talked about financial traps, she warned women to customize the microfinance loans that offer “easy and fast” credit. “Instead, manage the expenses wisely and find ways to save in your resources,” she advised.
The advocate Sarasija Rajan, who dealt with the assembly, emphasized the importance of legal awareness of women. “Knowledge of the law gives you strength and trust. Without it, you are vulnerable to unnecessary legal problems,” she said.
Mrs. Rajan stressed that women now have the same rights to the property of ancestors, a significant change in legal reforms. “Previously, women were justified only to maintenance. Today they can inherit the property of ancestors as well as men,” she said.
She also encouraged women who face injustice to seek help from legal services available in every court complex. “You don’t suffer in silence. Use the laws of friendly women to effectively increase your voice,” she concluded.
This event recorded the participation of trade union leaders and activists, including B. Venkatesh, Mallamma Kudli, Sarojamma, M. Puttamad, Chandrappa Hosker and Bhimashetti Yampalli.
