While he responded to the question during his weekly press briefing in Islamabad, Foreign spokesman Shafqat Ali Khan said, as PTI quoted, “he is a Canadian national and did not renew his Pakistanic documents for more than two decades.”
Rana, born in Pakistan in 1961, served in the Pakistani Army Medical Corps, before migration at the age of 90 to Canada, where he got citizenship.
Case against Early:
It is known that Tahawwur Rana is associated with Pakistan-American terrorist David Coleman Headley, who was one of the main conspirators of the 26/11 attacks. Headley made a bomb recipe before the attacks by representing immigration counseling as an employee.
A total of 166 people, including six Americans, were killed in the 2008 terrorist attacks in 2008, and 10 Pakistani terrorists laid more than 60 hours of siege.
Tahawwur Rana was convicted in the US for being part of the forbidden terrorist clothing of Lashkar-E-Taba (years) and provided material support to the group responsible for attacks in Mumbai.
Rana is accused of planning an attack and was released from the USA to India on Thursday.
After being released to India, NIA formally arrested him from Igi Airport in Delhi. He was accompanied by NSG and NIA teams, including higher officials, on a special Los Angeles aircraft.
“The NIA investigating team arrested early, the Canadian state state state of age living mainly in Chicago (USA), soon after emerging from the plane, after completing all the necessary legal formalities,” the agency said.
