The Directorate for Enforcement of Law (ED) conducted a search in the residence of the leader of the congress and former Minister Rajasthan Pratap Singh Khachariyawas in Jaipur on Tuesday (April 15, 2025) in connection with the investment fraud of 48,000 crore.
Ed searched for about 15 spaces, including Mr. Khachariyawas’s house in Jaipur, with the deployment of the Central Reserve police forces. Mr. Khachariyawas, nephew of former vice -president Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, was Minister of Transport in the previous government of Ashok Gehlot.
ED launched a money laundering probe in the case after the Central Investigation Office (CBI) registered the first information report in 2015 against Pearl Agro Corporation Limited (PACL) India Limited, PGF Limited, Late promoter PACL NIRMAL SINGH BHANGOO and other investment systems for investors.
Ed claimed that investors in several countries were cheated on about 48,000 GBP Crore, and “crimes” yields “were diverted to different entities, including those associated with Mr. Khachariawas.
Inquisted in 2020
Ed announced the announcement of Mr. Khachariyawas, his father and brother, over the alleged involvement of his family in the PACL case and related land transactions in August 2020. The leader of Congress then appeared in the ED office in Jaipur, where he was interviewed for several hours.

Mr. Khachariyawas told reporters outside his residence that Ed’s action was politically motivated because he spoke against the government. “I’m not afraid of (ed) … it’s a corrupt government of BJP that should be afraid,” he said, adding that he had not received any search notifications from the central agency, which was bad.
Congress leaders, including former main Minister Ashok Gehlot and opposition leader RAM Jully, condemned Ed’s action and described it as an act of “political revenge”. Mr. Gehlot said that no one was surprised by such acts of the central investigative agencies against the opposition leaders. These agencies were abused for political purpose, he said.
