Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa escaped the unharmed after his motor volume was focused on the protesters of throwing stone and what one minister described as a volley of shots on Tuesday (October 7, 2025).
Mr. Noboa solemnly treated the water treatment plant in the central Ecuador, when his motor school was determined by a large group protesting against rising fuel prices.
“There were about 500 people appeared and stones were thrown on him, and there are also bullets on the President’s car,” said the Minister of the Environment ines Manzano.
She said that five people were arrested and will judge for charges of terrorism – a crime carrying a maximum punishment in prison for 30 years.
The video released by the government, allegedly filmed from the inner chamber, shows the protesters standing on the road, shrouded in flags, scratching to collect large stones and bricks.
When the presidential SUV passed, the projectiles plunged into the lining and smashed windows.
Heard the voice shout, “Head down! Head down!” As the vehicle accelerated.
Officials stated that they were still investigating whether some of the impact signs on Mr. Nobo’s armored suburban chevrolet were caused by shooting.
“War Policy”
The alleged attack came in the middle of the increasingly violent demonstrations caused by the government’s decision to increase diesel prices.
The demonstrators went to the strike, blocked the roads and kidnapped 16 soldiers – who were eventually released.
The largest original organization Ecuador on Sunday (October 5, 2025) said the protesters were killed by armed forces during one of the assemblies.
It is assumed that more than 100 people, including protesters and security services, have been injured in riots.
Mr. Noboa declared an emergency state in several provinces.
After the attack, Mr. Nobo’s office said on the social media that “cowardly actions would not discourage” the president.
Albert Ramdin, head of the US States, said on the social media platform that “such violent acts are an attack on democracy, stability and spirit of peaceful coexistence that must win in our societies.”
The confederation of the indigenous nationalities of Ecuador said that the President’s convoy “joined the resistance zone”, which has led to “incidents that the government now uses to justify his war policy”.
Attorney Yaku Perez told reporters that these arrests were not “on protest. They were just confused” in the middle of a stir during which the police fired a tear gas.
The recently elected president is trying to reduce diesel subsidies to save about $ 1 billion in government expenditure, and overturns most of the savings on security funding.
Ecuador, once considered one of the safest nations of Latin America, has seen a dramatic increase in violence in recent years.
Ecuador is strategically located between Colombia and Peru, the two largest cocaine manufacturers in the world, the main transit center for narcotics.
The authorities accused drug gangs of supporting unrest, suggesting that criminal groups use protests to destabilize the country.
It is estimated that 70% of the world’s cocaine supply passes through the Ecuador, most of which are intended for the United States.
The store attracted international criminal organizations, including the Mexican Cartel Sinaloa, Italy ‘Ndrangheta and Albanie’s Mafia.
Their competition for checking the trafficking route has become an Ecuador for one of the most dangerous places in the region.
Mr. Noboa called on a referendum that will allow the return of US soldiers to the country and cancel the ban on foreign foundations of 2009.
