The Election Commission of India (ECI) ordered the suspension of five police officials in Diamond Harbor and deployed 11 new police observers across the state, despite the ruling Trinamool Congress leadership claiming a breach of the safe as allegations of malfunctioning CCTV cameras surfaced after the first phase of assembly elections.
“The commission directs that the following officers may be immediately suspended and disciplinary action initiated for their gross misconduct and failure to maintain neutrality during the 2026 West Bengal Legislative Assembly elections,” the election body’s order said.
