The Indian Election Commission (ECI) said on Thursday (July 31, 2025) that it has completed the list of election universities for vice -presidential elections. It will be available from the date of notification, “which is likely to be announced soon,” he said.
Vice -Presidents of the elections were necessary to resign Jagdeep Dhankhar 21 July. This led to a rare medium -term free space in the second highest constitutional position of the country.

1 ECI is entrusted to make elections to the Office of the Vice President of India pursuant to Article 324 of the Constitution. The vice -chairman is elected election university, which consists of elected and nominated members of Rajya Sabha, as well as elected members of Lok Sabha.
In accordance with the 40 presidential and vice -presidential election rules of 1974, the ECI is entrusted to prepare and maintain an updated list of members of this election university along with their latest addresses.

“In accordance with this, the Commission completed the list of election universities for the Vice Presidential Elections 2025. These members are listed in a continuous serial order, alphabetically based on the territory of the state/trade unions,” he said on Thursday (July 31, 2025).
He added that the list of election universities will be available to buy at the counter established in the Indian Election Commission from the date of the announcement, “which is likely to be announced soon”.

Last week, the body of voting launched the process of organizing vice -presidential polls by appointing General Secretary Rajya Sabha, PC mods, as a returning officer.
She also appointed Garima Jain, the common secretarity of Rajya Sabha Secretariat and Vijay Kumar, director of the Secretariat Rajya Sabha, as an assistant to the returning officers for elections.
