On Monday (August 11, 2025), the Election Commission stated that it identified another 476 registered unrecognized political parties for possible sending within its process to clean the electoral system.
In the first round of this exercise, the EC has already canceled 334 RUUP on August 9, reducing the number of Rupp from 2,854 to 2 520.
The instructions for registration of political parties mention that if the party continuously doubts the elections for six years, the party will be removed from the list of registered parties.
Pursuant to the provisions of the 1951 People’s Act, any association acquired, which once registered as a political party, including certain privileges and benefits such as symbol, tax exemption.
“As part of the comprehensive and continuous strategies of the Election Commission, the electoral system performs a nationwide exercise to identify and eliminate registered unrecognized political parties (RUPP), which since 2019 have not fulfilled the basic condition of attacking even a single election for 6 years,” EC said.
In order to ensure that no party is abolished, the CEOs of the relevant countries/trade unions were directed to issue the announcements of the cause for which the parties will be provided with the opportunity through the hearing of the CEOs concerned, EC said.
Based on the CEO reports, the final decision on the elimination of any RUUT is taken by the Election Commission.
