The cricket council in England and Wales (ECB) is allegedly considering interrupting the Mak Pataudi trophy, which was a traditional price for the test series between England and India in England. This change could take effect from the upcoming Indian tour of England in June-red 2025.

The Pataudi family has a unique place in cricket history, while Iftikhar Ali Khan Pataudi and Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi captains their relevant national teams.
Although the ECB did not provide an official reason for this decision, speculation suggests that the Council may try to introduce a new trophy named after the newer cricket icons of both nations, according to Cricbuzz report.

Sources indicate that the Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi family, the legendary Indian captain, after which the trophy is named, was informed of the development.
The source close to the family mentioned: “This is an ECB understanding. It seems that trophies are retired after some time.”
From now on, the ECB has not officially confirmed the retirement of the Patudi trophy or whether a replacement for the future test series in England and India will be introduced.
