According to the National Center of Seismology on Monday morning, an earthquake of 4.2 was hit by an earthquake.
This is the fourth consecutive earthquake that has hit Earth in the last four days.
Sharing details in the X post, NCS said the earthquake occurred at a depth of 140 kilometers at 08:54 hours (Indian standard time).
“EQ M: 4.2, on: 19/05/2025 08:54:18, lat: 36,41 n, long: 70,94 E, depth: 140 km, location: Afghanistan,” NCS said.
In the past on Sunday, Myanmar hit an earthquake by 3.9 Magnitude, followed in China later the same day of three 4.5 Magnitude.
There were no immediate reports of victims or damage at both locations. The authorities monitor the situation and are expected to detail.
Afghanistan has a history of strong earthquakes and the Hindu Mountains Kush is, according to the Red Cross, a geologically active area where shocks occur every year.
According to the UN Office for Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA), Afghanistan remains very vulnerable to natural disasters, including seasonal floods, landslides and earthquakes.
Previously, Afghanistan, an earthquake of 4.5, emerged on Sunday. According to the NCS, there was an earthquake at a depth of 150 km.
These frequent earthquakes in Afghanistan cause damage to vulnerable communities that are already struggling with decades of conflicts and insufficiently developing and leaving them with little resistance to deal with several current shocks, Unhocha noted.
Afghanistan sits on numerous turning lines between Indian and Eurasian tectonic plates, while the failure line also runs directly through Herat. Its location on several active fault lines along the collision zone between Indian and Eurasian tectonic plates makes it a seismically active area. These boards meet and knock and cause frequent seismic activities.
