“Vulnerable groups such as the elderly, pregnant women, children, people with underlying health conditions and outdoor workers are more likely to face the health impacts of extreme heat… In view of the IMD’s seasonal outlook for 2026, states and union territories must proactively improve the provision of early warnings to health officials, ensure comprehensive health sector preparedness, strengthen workforce capacity, conduct extensive health surveillance control activities by the Department of Health and maintain extensive control activities related to health.’
