The Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan emphasized the need for timely decision -making of officials and stated that hesitation and postponing duties at a higher level unnecessarily prevent the administration.
He spoke to regional review about the development and administrative progress in the districts of Kannur, Karagod, Kozhikode and Wayanad.
“The decision that can be taken at the level of someone should not be unnecessarily handed over to higher levels. Officers must take quick steps within the current rules and the government fully supports such decisions,” the main minister said. He added that civil servants, from junior officers to the main secretary, were the key to the effective functioning of the government.
Mr. Vijayan emphasized the improvement of administrative efficiency and noted that approximately 1,000 services were digitized and Adalats at Taluk level dealt with a number of public complaints. During Nava Keral Sadas, he also mentioned successful interactions with citizens.
“Although the decision is adopted faster, the pace can still be improved. The Adalat set helps with the supervision of secretaries and even the main secretary’s inspection,” he said.
The main minister strongly criticized parts of the media for what he described as deliberate attempts to create a negative image of the state’s performance. “There are conscious efforts to distort our achievements. The media no longer report facts, but their opinions,” he said.
He was particularly prevented by the state health care sector and called it one of the best in India. “The Faculty of Medicine in Kerala has made significant progress as a result of conscious government intervention and increased budget assignment. Yet there is a common attempt to reflect a false image, he said.
About the controversy surrounding Dr. Harris Hasan of Thiruvanathapuram Medical College Hospital, which publicly aroused concerns about delayed operations, the chief minister said: “The clerk could be honest, but his statement was misused to perish the whole health care system.
The main minister also pointed to the continuing expansion of the national highway network and described it as the main success. He argued that some prominent media houses had allocated special teams to emphasize only the negatives in the development of infrastructure, including roads, with the intention of tighting the image of the government.
On the day there was also a parallel meeting of police officers. The meeting was chaired by the main minister and attended the Chief of the State Police Ravada Chandrasekhar. The meeting reviewed the situation of the law and order in four northern districts.
Ministers Ramacandran Kadanappaly, K. Krishhnankutty, Pa Mohamed Riyas, MB Rajesh and OR Kelu, the main secretary of A. Jayathilak and the district collectors participated in the inspection meeting.
