Minister of external affairs Jaishankar is likely to visit China next week, his first trip to the neighboring country in five years. Jaishankar’s visit comes about three weeks after the Minister of Defense Rajnath Singh visited China to attend the SCO ministers’ meeting in Qingdao.
The ties between the two nations came under severe tension after a military distance to 2020 along the line of real inspection (LAC) in the eastern Ladak.
During the journey, Jaishankar will organize a bilateral meeting with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi in Beijing before traveling to Tianjin to attend the Foreign Ministers’ Council in Shanghai.
The Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi can also visit India this month to conduct new interviews with NSA Ajit Doval in the dialogue of the Slovak Representatives (SR) about the border dispute, PTI press agency reported earlier.
Both nations tried to fix tense ties late. Last month, the Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh visited China to attend the SCO defense meeting in Qingdao.
In December, NSA visited Beijing for special representatives (SR) interviews with Wang. Last month, Doval also visited China at a meeting of the best security officials of the SCO members.
9. April Jaishankar said India and China in their ties are heading towards the “positive direction”. However, the Minister stated that it was necessary to work to normalize the relationship.
“I think we’re moving in a positive direction,” Jaishankar said, talking at the Bharat News 18 summit.
SCO is a multilateral group led in China, which consists of nine permanent members, including India and Pakistan. China is the current chairman of the SCO and organizes a group meeting in this position.
The Jaishankar and Yi are expected to discuss a number of questions, including the supply of rare soils to India, a sequence of the Dalai Lama, the recent India-Pakistani tension and the restoration of direct flights between the two countries, Bloomberg report.
Military distance in the Galwan Valley in 2020
The military distance in the eastern Ladak began in May 2020 and the deadly clash in the Galwan valley in June of that year led to a serious escape in the ties between the two neighbors.
Fame-off ended effectively after completion of the release process from the last two Tybání points of Demchoku and Depsang on the basis of an agreement completed on October 21st.
The decision to revive the SR mechanism and other such dialogue formats was taken at a meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping in Kazan 23 October.
The Modi-Xi meeting came two days after India and China set fire to a disconnection agreement for Depsang and Demchok. In the last few months of India and China, they have launched a number of measures to repair bilateral links.
Last month, both sides renewed Kailash Manasarovar Yatra after a gap for almost five years.
