
Officers of the Elite Anti-Drug Enforcement Group (EAGLE) have invoked the Prevention of Illegal Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT NDPS) Act, 1988 against 101 accused in the state, EAGLE Chief and Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ake Ravi Krishna said.
Director General of Police (DGP) Harish Kumar Gupta commended the EAGLE police and unit heads of all commissionerates and districts for the measures taken in the fight against narcotics and ganja in the state.
“Accused under PIT Act NDPS will be jailed for one year and their assets will be attached,” said Mr. Ravi Krishna.
“We booked PIT NDPS Act against 25 drug dealers in NTR district, 18 in Alluri Sitarama Raju, 17 in East Godavari district, 11 in Visakhapatnam, 10 each were booked in Anakapalli and Tirupati districts, eight in Vizianagaram and two were booked in Nellore district,” The EAGLE Head told The Hindu on Thursday.
