
Elite Anti-Drug Enforcement Group (EAGLE) chief Ake Ravikrishna said on Saturday (March 28) that they have launched Operation Vajraprahar, Operation Safe Campus and Operation Garuda to curb ganja and drug use in the state.
Mr. Ravikrishna unveiled the ‘Drugs vaddu bro’ (Say no to drugs bro) posters at a program organized at G. Pulla Reddy Engineering College, Kurnool. Addressing the students, Mr. Ravikrishna said that the program is aimed at spreading awareness about the ill effects of drug abuse. He said they are trying to reach 70 million students through the program.
He said 101 persons were detained under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1988 and sent to judicial custody.
Mr. Ravikrishna said the property of the drug dealers would be confiscated. He said they are using data collected over 12 years and have implemented a narcotics offender tracking system under Operation Vajraprahar to crack down on drug traffickers.
