Each Indian has to reduce salt and oil consumption by 10%, Jagat Prakash Nadda, Minister of Department of Health and Family Care said on Saturday.
He spoke on the World Food Security Day in 2025, organized by the Ministry of Health and family care here on the topic “Stop obesity by her safely and healthy”.
He emphasized the worrying trend and quoted a study of ICMR, which showed a 39.6% increase in urban obesity and 23.1% of rural areas between 2008 and 2020.
“Our traditional meal includes many types of products with millet. We have to revive,” he said, emphasizing the need to reduce the processed food. He stressed that safe, nutritious and balanced food is essential not only for individual well -being, but also for building “Viksit Bharat”. “Eating right is your right, but you can only practice it,” he said. Mr. Nadda described four initiatives to support healthy eating habits.
Sanjay Kumar, the secretary of school education and literacy, emphasized the integration of food awareness in Ncert textbooks. He spoke about the inclusion of the chapters of food and well -being from class 3, supported by the Eat Right Activity book. Other measures outlined were the promotion of millet in noon meals and the introduction of sugar plate in CBSE schools to help students gain access to their daily sugar intake.
The event discussed the growing spirit of competition between countries with several main ministers and ministries of state health actively misleading the localized version of the “Eat Right” campaign. From the individual awareness of the promotion of meals based on the basis and the implementation of many audits, countries across the country have increased with creative initiatives on Earth that help speed up progress and promote innovations in public health strategies.
