Health, Medical and Family Welfare Minister Satya Kumar Yadav was lauded in the assembly on Friday for his detailed and well-prepared answers during question hour.
Kanumuru Deputy Speaker Raghurama Krishnam Raju, presiding over the House, praised the minister for his thorough “homework” and clarity, especially while answering questions regarding the development of the Government General Hospital in Anantapur.
Responding to queries raised by Anantapur Urban MLA Daggupati Venkateswara Prasad and Puttaparthi MLA Palle Sindhura Reddy, the minister said the hospital, initially approved for 560 beds, is now functioning with 1,348 beds, including 143 ICUs. He said that steps were underway to complete the remaining floors of the Maternal and Child Health block and that the 50-bed critical care block under the PM-ABHIM scheme would be completed within three months.
He also informed the House that pending drug charges have been cleared and monitoring of hospitals has been strengthened through facial recognition system.
