
While Ravana’s formiigy is burned throughout India to Dussehra 2025 – symbolizing the victory of good over evil – there is one temple in Uttar Pradesh, who worships the demon King Lanka.
According to the NewS18, there is a temple in the Kanpuro area in Uttar Pradesh, where Ravan is worshiped at the Vijayadashmi festival.
This temple, allegedly around 158, is said to be the only Ravan temple in a country that opens its doors-Dussehra once a year.

Long queues of devotees are gathering to offer prayers and perform Aarti (ritual worship) to Ravan as the temple opens early in the morning at Vijayadashami (Dussehra).
After the evening, Puja and Aarti are “Dashanan Mandir” closed again so that it does not open until next year Dussehra.
Why is Ravan worshiped in this Kanpur temple?
The temple was built in 1868 by Maharaj Guru Prasad Shukla, a devoted follower of Lord Shiva, News18 reported.

Idol Ravan in the temple is considered a guardian of strength and on this day is richly decorated and worshiped.
Temple Priest Ram Bajpai was quoted by News18 when he said, “Ravan was considered the most famous and powerful beings. Here we worship the wise and devoted form of Ravan. In the evening we burn a portrait representing his pride and arrogance.”

This tradition honors Ravan’s wisdom and devotion, even on the day of his symbolic defeat, distinguishes Kanpur’s religious and cultural heritage.

The village of Mahashtra offers prayers to the Demon King Ravan
The residents in Nedescript Maharashtra Village believe that they are employed and able to keep their livelihood because of Ravan’s blessings and peace and happiness in their village, according to the PTI news agency because of the King of Demon.

Thus, the inhabitants of the village of Sangola in the Akola district celebrate Dusseho by showing off “Aarti” from Ravan, although they burned his portrait like the others. The locals say that the tradition of Ravan worship for its “intelligence and ascetic qualities” has been in the village over the last 300 years.
In the middle of the village stands a tall statue of black stone ten heads of the demon king. The villagers believe in Lord Rama, but also believes in Ravana and does not burn his portrait, the locals of Bhivaj Dhakre said PTI on the occasion of Dussehr on Wednesday.
