During the weekend, water supply is likely to be interrupted in some parts of the city
Water supply to several areas in the capital is likely to be disrupted over the weekend due to urgent maintenance work at the Kerala Water Authority’s (KWA) water treatment plants (WTP) at Aruvikkara.
Although the WWTPs have been restored, full restoration of supply is expected to take some time as water levels in the KWA reservoirs have fallen. Supply in the downstream areas is expected to be restored by 6 a.m. Saturday. In high-line areas, it is expected to be restored by 10 p.m. Sunday, KWA said in a statement.
Maintenance work has been done on 74 MLD, 86 MLD, 75 MLD and 72 MLD WWTPs at Aruvikkara, according to KWA. The repairs were necessary due to problems including a power outage and a damaged valve, a KWA official said.
The supply has been affected in Kanjirampara, Pangode, Vattiyoorkavu, Vazhottukonam, Nettayam, Kachani, Thurthummoola, Kodunganoor, Thirumala, Valiyavila, Thrikkanapuram, Punnakkamugal, Poojappura, Mudavanrumad and Karamana, Karamana Pappanamcode wards, KWA said.
Supply will be partially affected in Socha, MG Road, Pulimoodu, Thampuranmukku, Rishimangalam, Vanchiyoor, Althara, Kochar Road, Edappazhinji, Sasthamangalam, Vellayambalam, Peroorkada, Kudappanakunnu, Ambalamukku, Patiptomatada, Ultapurlo, Ultapurlo Kochulloor, Kowdiar, Kuravankonam, Pippinmoodu, Oolanpara, Marappalam, Pettah, MG Road, Valiyasala, Vazhuthacaud and places near General Hospital.
