The duo was arrested by the Balanagar police in connection with a theft case in which ₹4,000 was stolen from an office at Liftstrade Private Limited in Industrial Development Area (IDA) Balanagar.
The accused were identified as Gonigunta Vamsi Krishna, 32, a taxi driver from Allwyn Colony, and Matta Bharath Rajiv Gandhi, 23, a bicycle mechanic from the same locality. Both are natives of Andhra Pradesh.
The arrest follows a case registered on December 2 after the complainant, Challa Venkata Avinash, reported that the glass door of his office was found open early that morning. The security guard locked the area the night before at 9:30 p.m. On checking the accounting section, the complainant found that ₹4,000 had been stolen.
Police recovered ₹2,27,000 in cash, a stolen bike, a smart watch, two pairs of gold-plated silver bangles, a rolled gold necklace, a rolled gold waist belt, two mobile phones, car keys and two iron bars. The arrests also helped in debunking six other cases registered at Balanagar, Jagadgirigutta, KPHB and Miyapur police stations.
Further investigation is underway.
