A total of 190 people have died due to the consumption of illegal liqueur in Bihar since the ban was imposed in the state in April 2016, a higher excise tax officer said on Friday (April 4, 2025).
Production, trade, storage, transport, sale and liqueur consumption in Bihar was banned by the government of Nitish Kumar in April 2016.
In an interview with the PTI, the Ministry of Prohibition, Exclusions and Registration of the Vinod Singh Gunjiyal, “the state witnessed around 190” confirmed the death of Hoch “from various districts in the state since 2016. “The department has collected CRORE 340.55 GBP from auction of 74 725 vehicles seized by officials. Department and police officials also use drones in certain districts in the state to charge those who violate the laws of haze,” the statement said.
In addition, the Ministry also uses the help of 33 snorting dogs to charge people involved in crimes concerning violations of the prohibition laws.
Regarding the selection of revenue from registration of land and apartments, the ministry gathered the highest revenue of 7,648.88 GBP against the specified goal of RS 7 500 crore for fiscal 2024-25, he said.
The department decided to expand the facility “e-nibandhan” in a state that would help citizens apply for registration from any place, added the statement.
