The 45 -year -old authorickshaw driver died after he fell on his moving vehicle on Thursday. The incident occurred around 19:30 near the bus hiding on the main road Kathriguppe in Banashankari, South Bengalur.
The victim was identified as Mahesh, ITTAMAD resident. According to preliminary reports, the Bengalur Municipal Police passed around 43a bus stop, when the tree suddenly fell, crushed its vehicle and left it trapped inside.
The emergency services were immediately warned, but Mahesh succumbed to his injury at the crime scene. A case of unnatural death was registered and his family filed an official complaint with the local police.
Bruhat Bengalur Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) officials said Bangalore Metropolitan Task Force (BMTF) was deployed shortly after the incident report.
BBMP manager said Hindu: “We coordinate with all departments to assess damage and provide compensation to the surviving family according to the specified instructions.”
The city experienced the magic of slight precipitation accompanied by lightning and gusty winds, with wind speeds of up to 17 nodes. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted that Bengaluru would continue to receive light to medium rainfall until 3 May. In some parts of the city, especially Banashankari, the inhabitants were surprised when hail accompanied by a downpour.
In a separate case, a large tree fell on a parked car near the café in the Korangale. Fortunately, no one was inside the vehicle at the time and no injuries were reported, even if the car suffered significant damage.
Flood
The heavy rain also led to floods in several areas of the southern Bengaluru, while underpasses and arterial roads were difficult to navigate.
Inundation was serious near the Yelachehenehalli metro station, causing disturbance of traffic. BBMP officials added that the teams were sent to clean the blocked drains and remove fallen trees in operations response to emergencies.
According to shared BBMP data, a total of 10 cases of trees were reported on Thursday.
